Tilton Conservation Area, Rte. 87, Epping
Tilton Conservation Area is owned and managed by the Epping Conservation Commission. It is located where Route 87 crosses the Lamprey River. This is the end point for the annual Lamprey River Canoe Race in late April. Paddlers launching here are encouraged to paddle upstream; the river downstream of here is noteworthy for several downed trees that can be tricky or require significant portaging.
The park also includes a short floodplain trail. Each of the ten stops along the trail is marked by a numbered post and descriptions can be kept with you on the trail by taking a photo of the trail descriptors on the kiosk panel.
