Legislative Tracking

The New Hampshire 2022 legislative session is now in full swing! The 2022 Rivers and Lakes Programs Legislation Tracking Spreadsheet has been posted and is current as of today, January 14, 2022. The spreadsheet can be found on both the RMAC Forum and the LMAC Forum.

This week, the RMAC submitted a letter of testimony in support of HB 1066, establishing a cyanobacteria commission. The LMAC met on Thursday and established legislative positions.

Many of you have expressed a desire for LACs to be able to meet remotely like we did during the COVID emergency, but outside of a declared emergency. Three of the bills we are watching this year would allow some or all members of an LAC to meet remotely. Two of those bills, SB 322 and SB 344, have hearings scheduled for 1/25.

HB 1014 – Fully or partially remote meetings allowed, following the process we used during the COVID emergency.

SB 322 – Only a quarter of the current members must be physically present at a public meeting location. Others may participate remotely.

SB 344 – Fully or partially remote meetings allowed, but meeting minutes must state why each remote member is participating remotely.

LACs or individuals may register their support or opposition for a bill online using the House Remote Sign In (House Remote Sign In Directions) for bills being heard in the House, or the Senate Remote Sign In (Senate Remote Sign In Directions) for bills being heard by a Senate committee. Remote registration is only available for bills with scheduled hearings. You may also submit a letter of testimony via email to the committee hearing the bill, or testify at the public hearing in person. Please reach out to us if you would like help contacting/emailing the appropriate legislative committee. An example of a testimony letter submitted last year by the RMAC is HB216 Remote Meetings House Judiciary RMAC 20210219.
