Classification of Lamprey Rivers

By state law, much of what is allowed for development along the rivers is defined by how the river is classified. Regulations for areas that are more pristine are more stringent. The lighter colored areas around the rivers define the quarter mile corridor that is protected by designation in the NH Rivers Management and Protection Program. On this map, rivers or segments are colored according to their classification:

green: natural

purple: rural

orange: rural community

red: community
